Steward Observatory Mirror Lab
The
University of Arizona Steward Observatory Mirror Lab is a world class
research and manufacturing facility with the capability of producing
the world’s largest mirrors. The Large Polishing Machine was
ordered from In-Place Machining Co. to meet SOM’s increasing
demand for large precision mirrors from scientific, industrial, and
military customers throughout the world.
In-Place Machining Company is an industry leader in the design and development of specialized machine tools, and the use of those tools for precision on-site machining. IPM also provides precision optical, mechanical, and laser measurement services utilizing its proprietary FieldCMM² technology. In-Place Machining Company has facilities in Chicago, Milwaukee, Chesapeake, and Los Angeles.
