IPM Completes Expansion of Milwaukee Facility

Focus on Underwater Machine Development
with New 160,000 Gallon Test Pit

Milwaukee, WI, August 12, 2011 – In-Place Machining Company announces the completion of their new 31,000 square foot Machine Development and Test center. The centerpiece of the new building is a 160,000 gallon in-ground test pit that will enable IPM to perform full scale wet or dry mock-up and testing of extra large machines.

The new addition increases IPM’s Milwaukee facility to over 100,000 sq. ft. under one roof. Other building highlights include:

  • 5 bays with 7 overhead cranes
  • 45 ton max crane capacity
  • 40 ft. under the hook
  • Over-sized drive-through truck bays
  • High capacity utility service

The new capacity also reinforces IPM’s on-going commitment to support a wide range of industrial, scientific and military customers, and it completes the Company’s facilities expansion plan that started with initial construction in 2003.

Decommissioning with a Splash
In-Place Machining Company was awarded a contract to design, build, test and deliver two underwater cutting machines critical to the segmentation and decommissioning of Zion 1 & 2 reactor internals. Thanks to the new state-of-the-art 160,000 gallon Development and Test pit, IPM is continuing to provide leading decommissioning solutions with reduced development times and lower total costs.
